PCOD and PCOS

Below is a collection of all that I have learnt from Swami Ramdev and my teachers at Patanjali Mahila Samiti. Some herbal remedies are from research papers [4][6]. All asans listed are for PCOD and help with PCOS as well. Yoga not only addresses the problems of PCOS but is likely to prevent long term complications such as Cardio-vascular diseases, and diabetes. For any Ayurvedic medicine please consult an Ayurvedic doctor before taking. For herbs, the recommendation is to take one herb at a time in less quantity and see its result based on the TAASIR (influence on body) as each body type reacts differently to different herbs. Consulting a Ayurvedic Doctor/Nutritionist is recommended before any major increase of doses - even for herbs.


Pranayams:

  • Kapalbhati [1] - 10 mins. Start at 5 minutes and slowly increase to 10 mins

    • If you have high blood pressure, do it at slow speed, till you cure it completely. 1 stroke every two seconds.

  • Bahya Pranayam - 3 to 6 repetitions

  • Anulom - Vilom (Alternate nostril breathing) - 5 minutes

  • Bhramri Pranayam - 6 repetitions

  • Ram Pranayam - 5 repetitions

  • Udgeeth - 10 repetitions

  • Pranav Pranayam: Open Monitoring Meditation [3 to 5 minutes]


Asans:

While doing below asans, hold Kapalbhati as much as possible. Each asan should be held for at least 30 seconds to a minute.

  • Purna Bhadrasana

  • Ardha Bhadrasana

  • Titli (Butterfly pose)

  • Badhakonasan

  • Paschimottanasana

  • Chakki chalan

  • Uttanpadasana

  • Mandukasana

  • Ardha Halasana

  • Parivrttasana

  • Dwi Chakrika Asan

  • Pawanmuktasana

  • Sarvangasana

  • Halasana

  • Setubandasana

  • Bhujangasana

  • Parsvakonasana

  • Surya Namaskar [5 to 10 repetitions]

  • Yogic Jogging



Herbs:[4][6]

  • Aloe vera

  • Chamomile

  • Fennel seeds

  • Cinnamon

  • Liquorice

  • Flaxseeds

  • Fenugreek

  • Ginger

  • Ginseng


Ayurvedic medicines:

  • Shivlingi seed + Putrajivak seeds - ground and eat with milk 2 grams - Morning and evening

  • Phaladruta

  • Dashmularishta

  • Divya Peya tea

  • Cystogrit [1-2 tablets 1:1:1 - empty stomach morning, afternoon, and night]

  • Kanchnar after meal

  • Shatavari

  • Ashwagandha


Food:

  • Drink only warm water - 7 glasses before 5pm.

  • No fast food; avoid food not cooked in healthy organic oils.

  • Simple whole grains

  • Organic fruits and vegetables

Sleep:

  • 8 hours a day, in complete darkness.
